"Pandemic" changes in the legislation

On June 10, 2020, the lower house of Parliament (Majlisi Namoyandagon) adopted amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. It is claimed that these changes are aimed at preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the above changes:
- masks must be worn in public places, as well as in a private car if there are children under 16;
- for violation of these norms, the amount of the fine will vary from 116 to 290 somoni;
-  if the violation of these norms caused infection or death of people, then criminal liability is foreseen.
